Electronics retailer Circuit City announced earlier this week it was planning layoffs and targeting better-paid workers. The local store, 7091 Youree Drive in Shreveport, is not immune.

Jim Babb, spokesman for Circuit City's corporate office, said five local sales associates were affected by their announcement Wednesday to layoff their employees.
